[This is the second time she's woken up somewhere new and she's not any less pissed off about it.]

No clue. Glad it's not just me though.

I'm getting real tired of this. Wish whatever's doing this would just show its face so I can kick its ass already.

[She's pretty sure she can do that. Probably.]

Or reason with it. I'd like to know the why.

[A beat.]

[There's a brief frown on her face. It's nothing to do with him, just this weird feeling of being watched she can't place. But she shrugs it off for now. Everything about this place is weird, so she's not going to put too much stock into the creepy feelings she gets from using the shard until she has to.]

Saves time if you don't split them. You can always tell them you'll stop if they start talking.

Some people will say anything, including whatever they think you want to hear. Without a baseline on what's normal around here, running on information gained under duress? Not smart.

[Maybe these weird feelings are normal for this place, who knows? But so far there doesn't seem to be a way to confirm that.]

[She did not think about that. But instead of admitting that, she's just going to double down here.]

Maybe when most people do it, sure. But when a Knight of the Round Table wants answers, they get them.

Bucky, for his part, just shrugs.]

Mm-hm. Call yourself whatever you want, I somehow don't think this place cares.

[As for that title? Those were only stories, Arthur and Merlin and all of that. But if she wants to pretend she's out of some Arthurian legend, who is he to stop her?]

I don't care if it cares. I'm the one who cares. Thanks for not making a big fucking deal about it though.

[Except she's kind of sulking now. Figures the one person she actually slips up around doesn't give a shit (because she has no idea how these shards work, so she's just assuming it's to one person). That's good! But Mordred still likes recognition even if she's trying to keep her identity under wraps.

[Here's a very distressed teen yelling at him.] Yes! It's really scary, Brooklyn! I need to invest in a bat or something!

[Bucky is so not equipped to handle Distressed Teen™. But he is pretty good at improvising.]

Just breathe for me Jersey, can you do that?

I'm breathing! But, this is super stressful, Brooklyn! I hate being kidnapped!

Makes two of us. But we're not gonna let the stress win.

Do you need me to come find you?

Like... maybe for ten minutes. Is that okay? [She doesn't want to be a burden, but Kamala is majorly freaked out.]

‘Course it is. You’d do it for me.

[He’s not sure why he’s so sure that she would, but it’s the impression he’d gotten from meeting her. And really, it’s no burden.]

I’m going to go stand outside this cabin. Go to your window and tell me if you see me, okay?

Yeah... I actually would. Hang on. [If Kamala pauses there it's only because she's been read so accurately. She heads to her window and surprise surprise: he's pretty easy to spot. Kamala doesn't waste any time running out her cabin to reach him.]

Brooklyn! Hey!

[sinistral]

[Ways to be easily recognizable: be the only one standing outside a cabin. Also, have a metal arm. But there's a good side, Bucky supposes: at least two of them were transported to this ring of cabins. He wonders if anyone else was.]

Hey Jersey.

[He'll meet her part of the way, a few steps from the cabin's front door. And it's probably clear that he's looking her over for any signs of injury or any other visible distress.]

Feel a little better now?

I...guess it's a little much to hope we all just started sleepwalking at the same time?

[it's a nicely resigned tone because he's already had his freak out, and, other than tiring himself out, it hadn't changed a thing.]

I dunno, do you like the idea of anything that could cause a mass hallucination like that?

[Well, resignation is better than panic — though not by much. Still, at least Peter is calm; that's a good thing.]

You okay?

[There are so many things he could (and does) mean by that statement; he's leaving it open to Peter's interpretation to steer the threads of their conversation.]

Well, no. But I don't like anything about this place.

[other than getting to meet people from other worlds. but he'd much rather do that back home than here.]

I'm okay though. Just...annoyed.

The air is clear.

[It's a small thing, the lack of air pollution, and Bucky really isn't sure it's a good thing. But it is nice to be without the smog for a little while, and to enjoy clear skies at night.]

I wish I had answers. I think we all probably do.

[arachnerds]

[that manages to push a snort of laughter out of him, his expression a little fonder than it'd been a moment ago.]

You know, I've lived in New York my entire life. Clean air feels weird.

[he shakes his head at that. close, but not quite.]

Nope. Queens. Might not be the friendliest place out there, but it's home.

[It's said with an exaggerated groan, one that's meant to be taken lightly.]
