fablemods[it's midnight. the moon is full, swamping the land in pale blue moonlight. there's the occasional hoot of owls. the chirping of crickets. nighttime has fully set in, and the land has given way to all things nocturnal. sleep comes easily, the coolness of the night enough to help ease people towards the land of nod.
it's peace. or as close to it as is possible, now that the creature has ventured closer.
the silence of the night is interrupted by a piercing scream. a sound that feels as though it echoes across the island. finding the source is easy, however. at least to those who keep their pack close.
it's a white light. one that grows brighter by the second, originating from the leather pouch that was gifted to each person on arrival. once the shard inside is removed, a shadow passes across its surface, and all that can be heard is--]

[a rushed whisper. female. young. it's all that's said before the light cuts out, and silence prevails all over again.]
